This topic is just to keep track of the things done this time around during the check/update we run every few years. There will probably not be very much things we need to adjust as all seem to look fine and work as suspected.
But even though that, I've found some things to give some attention to, which will be mentioned in this thread. This is a project that will probably keep me busy for quit some time. Updates will be posted below and this first post will hold the collection of all changes.
- Header bar above chapters is now blue instead of dark grays, see above this line
- Top Menu drill-downs are more compact listed for easier navigation
- Top menu FORUMS is ordered per category of forums, used to be a long listing everything mixed
- Improved anti-spam protection, still not perfect but at least it keeps some spam out
- New Pagination where more pages can be browsed in the same category replacing the old page navigation/pulldowns
- Category Back browsing, as breadcrumbs not showing on mobile, you can now go back 1 step easily with link only showing on mobile
- Image upload minimum dimensions increased, normal image will be 600px width now, smaller not allowed to upload (was 400px)
- Locked forum topics are now shown in gray, black drew to much attention
- Highlighted Video now moves between left/right column depending de amount of show forum posting.
- New Sliders with better support for mobile devices
- New overview to look at a product category of a specific brand, also displays an image of the products (check)
- Discontinued products are BLUE, actual products shows up in red links (link above or demo page)
- Content Update, a lot of items are added, still need to be filled in with product details and images
- Moved language selector to top right of page, shows if available -->
- New notification on top of page if Article is linked to Gearbase item
- Redesigned footer of the content page, now neatly 1-3 columns depanding if there is content te show (gearbase entry, linked topics and linked downloads).
- New Chronological Brand overview (check)
- Renamed the DJ Topics module/section to Blogs as this is a much better fitting name for this content
- Rework of the main page of this section with new slider menu replacing the old long list of links
- Content pages refreshed layout and color usage for column headers
- Added pagination to item page to read other articles in the same category
- Content Update, started work to redo the layout of a lot of articles
> Layout : Articles written in early days need restructuring, also nothing suited for adaptive resolution
> Content : Some info is outdated and will be updated or removed, preferable that first
- Added new pagination to main page and item pages, dynamically updates the description/link below it
- Top pagination shows years when viewing all to make skipping easier
- Added new pagination at the bottom of each booth to other booths in the same view (all, userbooths, voted booths, booth with gear item)
- Refreshed color usage on mainpage
- Mainpage in DJ Booths shows more booths per page
- Booth page layout cleaned up
- NEW: overview page for all booths with a certain Gearbase item (demo)
Reachable by clicking the booth icon on right of a gear item when viewing a booth
- Icon to see the image in the Gallery is now smaller on the top left
Articles
- Changed language selector to be in the top bar. This used to be in a bigger panel but it covers some of the content of the article. In the header it does not mess up the layout.
- Added notification on top of page if the Article is linked to a Gearbase item
- Redesigned footer of the content page, now neatly 1-3 columns depanding if there is content te show (gearbase entry, linked topic/downloads)
Articles Content
- Updated the layout and content of all articles in About DJResource category amongst which:
DJResource About Us
DJResource Guidelines
- Separated the DJResource history from the Guidelines article and gave it a nice layout. See how DJResource evolved in over 20 years
- Created an english translation of an old interview with me
I found that updating the topics is gonna take a while to be finished. A lot of the old layout does not size properly on mobile devices so I practically have to rewrite all the HTML styles to fit the current layout styling. It is a satisfying job to make those articles readable again
The list in this posting will grow over time so I myself can also keep track what is updated.

In the Top menu you get a fold-out menu for some of the Modules/sections if needed, indicated by that little arrow:
For the Forums it showed a long listing of all available forums, which was a bit hard to use.
It now shows all forums sorted by Category of the forum and there are now also light colored header bars. This way it is much easier to find the forum to go to.
BTW, the menu does not fold out if the module is active (shown as yellow)
goed bezig Jeroen.
Pioneer DJ Chronological History Timeline
(overigens hebben alle merken een knop in het merk overzicht gekregen die dit verhaal laat zien voor dat merk, mits data beschikbaar in de gearbase)
Just a a progress note, I'm currently working and still updating the former DJ Topics (now Blog) as a lot of the content was not yet responsive.
Also I try to update the images. Most of the images used in the DJ topics I still have in decent quality. Currently most images have static dimensions (so break the responsiveness of DJResource when reading) and also images used to be max 300 pixels width. With the resolution monitor screens have nowadays it looks not that great.
As a result of new images also the layout needs to be dealt with.... anyway, still working on it but it takes a bit longer than suspected. I'll update a progress post soon with some more structural changes of some modules. I plan to revisit all modules and adjust where needed. This will take some time, but I'm not in a hurry
Dit is toch wel de beste DJ site die er is maar misschien ben ik niet helemaal objectief

Agreeeed
I think I'm pretty well on my way in updating the Blog/Articles/DJ Topics section by now.
By far not ready with updating all the content you can read here (will be a work-in-progress in the background until I'm done).
NEW : Pagination above each of the articles that has a direct link to the other topics in the current category. This pagination replaces the old style navigation we are using for a long time now. It has all the functionalities of the old one, offers more options to select other pages and is fully responsive so it looks proper on all devices.
This pagination will be coming to all other modules as well, I'll be implementing this as I maintain each of the modules.
Part of the new pagination is a link (only visible on mobile) to go back one step in browsing, when visiting DJResource on a desktop there is a breadcrumbs strip, but as there is space lacking on a mobile device this cannot be shown when there is little screen space. As an alternative there is now a small link to go back one step.
I've also exchanged the long lists of link on the mainpage of this section with a new modern swiper-menu. This makes the mainpage much easier to read, also on mobile devices this makes it that browsing the different categories is much easier (and give it a more modern look)
Blog item page
- If a Blog item is also mentioned in the Gearbase there is now a more clear banner on the top of the page with a link to this product and to the category of it.
- At the bottom of a Blog item there are 3 possible columns to show, depending if they apply to the Blog posting. There is a column for the item in the Gearbase, one for possible downloads offered on DJResource and one with possible related other Blog posting that might be interesting. This information was already there but was rather lacking of proper layout.
Next in line was the DJ Booths section
Here is a screenshot of the old layout of the mainpage of the DJ Booths ---->
We've updated the color usage on the mainpage of the DJ Booths section as the dark header bars are a bit to much. The colors of the booths are lighter and the icons showing for each booth are reordered and put in a blue bar.
There is a new pagination on the top of the screen if you are browsing pages, there was always the 2 previous/next buttons and a pulldown. The new pagination is easier to navigate and better indicates to new users there are more images to see.
In the DJ Booths you can view images in a view ways : All Booths, Booths from a certain user, Booths with a certain gearbase item and Top 100 voted Booths. The pagination adapts to which view you are using. If you are viewing all images (standard view) the list got to long (3000+ images) and it will show you a quick select row of years in which there are DJ Booths added.
Below each Booth is now a secondary Bottom pager to go a page back or forward, this was already there but is now restyled.
There is a new overview page to see all images with a certain gearbase item linked to them. You can go there by viewing a booth and look at the gear listing, there is a Booth icon on the right of each gear item to show all other images with that piece of kit.
There are also several minor things I've adjusted and moved, in general it now feels a bit fresher and is easier to navigate
