Pioneer Supports Heineken in Quest to Uncover the World’s Best Artists, Producers and DJs
16 July 2006: Pioneer announced today that it will be partnering with ‘Heineken Thirst Studio 06’ – a global competition to find the best music producers, artists and DJs.
Thirst Studio is searching for talent across 10 countries. Local winners will attend a global finale and if they’re successful there, will receive the ultimate music prize: a studio session with a top producer to collaborate on an exclusive track.
The winners of Thirst Studio 06 will also receive a range of additional exclusive prizes. These include DJ hardware and software, career tips from international legends like BT, Deep Dish and Groove Armada and, widespread media coverage to promote their talent.
To complement the global winners’ package, Pioneer will be providing prizes for the artists who reached the podium at local events. This includes a top of the range pair of HDJ-1000 headphones, while the overall winner in each country, will receive a new DVJ deck worth up to €2000.
This is the second year that Pioneer has partnered with Heineken Thirst, an event that highlights both brands’ commitment to supporting musicians at grass-roots levels.
‘
Following on from the success of last year’s tour, Pioneer Pro DJ is delighted to continue its partnership with Heineken Thirst,’ comments
Ian Jordan, technical manager for Pioneer Europe. ‘
The competition is a fantastic way of identifying fresh, talented artists who are using our DJ technology to their best advantage. The global competition is so fierce that the contestants really have to show that they have a great technical mixing ability as well as a good ear for the selection of their play list. Anyone attending last year’s global final in Cape Town will testify as to the calibre of DJs that performed: clubbers should keep an eye out for them and this year’s winners because they’re the hottest guys around.’
Since its beginning in 2002, over 250,000 clubbers have attended a Thirst event and over 7,000 aspiring DJs have entered the competition that has helped further the careers of over 50 DJs. Thirst gives local talented DJs the once in a lifetime opportunity to play alongside international stars maximising their exposure and status.
Thirst has unearthed some exceptional performers including Miss Motif who toured the globe with Thirst 2004 and is now enjoying a career with her band Scent. DJ Ronin – global winner of Thirst 05 – has gone on to perform in clubs around the world, and will be headlining at Pacha in Ibiza this summer.
This year Thirst has evolved into Thirst Studio - a groundbreaking collaboration of rising talent and the planet's hottest producers across all urban genres, culminating in powerful new music and unique live performances across the globe.
Thirst Studio will be visiting Denmark, Croatia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Romania, Hungary, Vietnam, Dubai, South Africa (TBC)
