Rotating or NON-rotating platter (1/2)

A cd-player with a rotating platter or?a NON-rotating platter ?

I have voted NON-rotating platter

NoN-Rotating *2 (tried denon and technics asswell... and like non-moving better )

i`m a real vinyl junkie and to keep the feeling of a real turntable i like a rotating better.

I use a pioneer regularly but i can`t get used of the non-rotating platter.

Can't vote but I would say Rotating

Yet having 2 pioneers I learned to work with non rotating but i found it more difficult to get beat syncs this way. Yet, I am a newby.

I find it more accurate, instead of sweeping the jog to give it a pitch bend, I just rotate is very gently, sweeping a CDJ jogwheel is NOT the right way !

Maar das ook niet zo gek, want draaien is wat het doel is van een DJ...

ik bedoelde dat er al genoeg draait op me tafel

bij cd-spelers is een draaiend jog volkomend zinloos bij het functioneren van het apparaat, en dus een potentiele mogenlijkheid om defecten op te lopen...

iets dat niet nodig is... hoef ik niet te zien op apparatuur

ik bedoel met volkomen onzinnig eigenlijk meer, het is niet nodig, gewoon anders dus leren ermee om te gaan (al is dat mischien niet voor iedereen even makkelijk)

Ik zie het ook zo dat een bewegend jogwheel meer nadelen heeft dan voordelen.

Ik kan bijvoorbeeld wel een voordeel geven van een stilstaand jogwheel (preciezer met bijsturen), maar ik kan er geen verzinnen voor een roterend jogwheel.

Ik denk dat dit heel persoonlijk is.

Zo kan ik me voorstellen dat iemand een bewegende jogwheel fijner vind omdat als je een meegaande draaibeweging maakt, je preciezer een zetje kunt geven. Ik persoonlijk denk dat het niets uitmaakt, het is alleen een stukje gewenning en het is allebei heerlijk.

Je heb bij een draaiend jogwheel heb je een variable in de vorm van de platter en je arm. Bijsturen doe je dan op gevoel, preciezie is moeilijk toe te passen op een draaiend plateau.

En stilstaand jogwheel kun je beetpakken en precies sturen tot-tie goed staat.

I voted non-rotating even though I only have a dz1200....but I have just ordered a new Pioneer cdj-1000mk2 which should be here this week!!!

I tried out the 1000 in the shop and I think I will like it much much better than the rotating platter of the dz1200.

I like the look and idea of a rotating platter, but the dz1200's rotating platter is too sensitive and loose.  I like the very solid feel of the platter on the cdj1000.

Even though i have CDJ1000's, i have to go with the spinnin platter, it got a more natural feel to it.

Sorry guy's but that's a fact.

I was going to buy me a set of the new Technics cd platters, but nooooo

i've voted for rotated because i've get something with rotated things its a kind of handycap i also like vinyls the most.. the only thing why i shoeld vote for non rotated is:  if you want to use your effct on your...   pio you can't because its already rotating thats the only thing.. 

Rotating all the way, go DENON! Its the natural progression of things. The closest you will get to vinyl in my humble opinion. You dont use non rotating vinyl do you? How about some non rotating wheels? or maybe even some non rotating CD's too! Come on, only those who chose non rotating are those who are stuck with their pio's or those who havent used the Denons, especially the new 3500's with the direct drive motor, very nice guys.

Why stick to something when an improved interface arrives ? True fact is that this is something that might feel unnatural at first but it's something you can easily get used to. When the first light bulb was invented nobody knew how to light it.

When you look at vinyl simulation I think that the Numark CDX has an even closer approach, that's true 12" vinyl. But the DN-S3500 is a nice improvement to the 3000/5000 and it does come close to the vinyl feeling (with a 7" single) and the torque is good.

But is a turntable the ultimate for DJ to use ?

I think a CD deck with non-rotating jogwheels could have an interface that corrects a flaw of vinyl: it give you more accurate control. You can 'steer' your beats until sync while a rotating jog needs a gentle sweep...
