You all know this law which is only a theoratical one. Prove that this law really exists is never written down, but there is a little small history to tell about it. Everybody knows this law and it is valid in every country in the world :D
Murphy's Law :
Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong and will cause the most serious problems at the most unsuspected moments. This is generaly a law that, when it occures, it makes all problems come at the same time.
In 1949 there was the first notice made about this so called law. Engineer Edward A. Murphy worked at Edwards Air force Base on a project that researches the influences of negative G-forces on persons.
When one of his employes (again) connected the equipment in a wrong way Edwards said something lik "Everything he does, he does it wrong". The project leader made a list with laws and facts that we're discovered at this specific research, this one was noted...
For the ease of reminding they gave a rather general twist to this law making it simple : Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Actually Murphy's law is not only this, it is a compilation of 6 laws packed into one :
- Nothing is as easy as it seems.
- It always takes longer than you think.
- Everything that CAN go wrong, WILL go wrong.
- If several things can go wrong, the one that causes the most damage will go wrong.
- Even is there's absolutely nothing that could go wrong, it happens anyway!
- If everything seems good and ok, you probably missed somthing.
How to test this law ? That's easy. Take a nice sandwich and put some peanutbutter on one side of the sandwich. Now hold it with your hand (without the plate) right in front of you... and drop it....
Murphy's Law : old, worn out carpet -> no peanut butter is spoiled.
New, white of colourfull carpet -> the sandwich lands on the peanutbutter.
Just to let you know a little story... everybody knows this law, but I doubt if much people know the story behind it.
