Non Populair House Scene Is Getting Populair

The beginning of house music was in Chicago where Frankie Knuckles started with playing and making the first house tracks, this kind of music was also called ‘warehouse’. First nobody uses that kind of music, but later more and more dj’s started to use this music in their dj sets.

About 10 years ago the house-scene started changing, it became softer and softer over the years. Two years ago the house-scene became more popular in clubs and with the Dj’s. Ofcourse many producers ant to make money with their own music. That wasn't very easy back in 2004, because R&B and Hip-Hop were getting very commercial as well.

Most often the track was produced by a DJ. The track was only released at exclusive clubs and only DJ’s who had connections or knew eachother were able to get their hands on that track. Also the track was only released on vinyl. Now you can see most of the commercial house tracks in music television clips.

After the regular House, Electro House was coming up, this commercial ride started with the track ‘Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit, I Love…(yeah you know how it’s going). This track was made by Fedde le Grand, a Dutch house music producer. After this song it really went fast with the house music. Many tracks were made and they became increasingly popular because of videoclips and good promotion.

This is not the only thing about house music. More people wanted to be that dj who plays the best house music en who plays the most unknown tracks.

“Nowadays everybody wants to be that DJ” like ‘Noir’ said in his track ‘It’s all about house music’

"I remember back in the 80's when I first heard electronic music
I knew back then this illegal computer sound was going to be my call
My heart got hooked on 4x4 beats when house took its journey with
Jack, Chicago and Acid House
Now my heart is hooked forever
It’s in my soul,
In my veins,
On my mind 24/7
Don't care if it’s Jazz, Soul, Tech, Minimal, Funky, Vocal or Hip-house
Name it I love it.

Its all about the House music and it always has been

I don't understand people who satisfy with ordinary pop music
They just listen to whatever radio stations decide they should like and my God, they like it.

Some people even think that house club's for weirdo’s only
Maybe they are right, maybe we are weird, maybe this music is weird
and maybe the clubs are overrated
We were in this for the love of music, for the love of beats, for the love of loops
for the love of loops...

Its all about the House music and it always has been

If you're into house music the DJ scene is like a natural path to follow
And back in the days, DJ's were weird people who like music in a weird way
Back then you'll have to be a nerd to become a DJ
Nowadays everybody wants to be a DJ
Nowadays everybody wants to be that nerd
It sickens me
If you are not in it for the love of the music
Would you please fuck off!
Hate those smart asses who think DJing is the easy way to get laid
Well, get a life!

I wonder what house would be like in the future
Wonder what the clubs would be like
Now that technology has taken over the DJ world
What will the DJ be like in the future
Let’s just hope that house music will keep its soul
Let’s just hope that DJ's will keep their skin
But actually I don't give a shit
We don't give a shit
Because it’s not about how you do it
But why you do it

Its all about the House music and it always will be"

So when all these ‘dj’s’ were coming up, they all played the music that the older dj’s or better THE dj’s played.

Now, everybody plays the music digitally. So it can be passed threw internet easily and it’s reachable for everybody. And that’s why it’s getting so popular. I’ll show you a routine how it’s going:

- A producer gets his track released
- It’s for sale in some records stores (for 10/20 euro)
- Two weeks later you can download it on several websites for low-cost (about 1 or 2 euro’s)
- Only ONE person has to buy and download it
- That one person can pass it to everybody for free
- Also radio stations can get every track they want, through that website
- Then everybody knows and hears that same track and it’s not special anymore for a DJ (exclusive)
- The producer now makes good money
- After 2 months nobody really ‘knows’ nor cares about the track anymore

This is a shame for the house music, because like ‘Noir’ already told us: It’s not about how you do it,
but why you do it….
