My Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones just started acted weird. When I have the headphones set on 'stereo' using 1/4' in mixer, all I get is sound from left ear speaker. But in MONO they work fine. Now, when I plug them into device using 1/8' they work fine in both stereo and mono. Do you guys think it's the 1/4' adapter? Or is this something to do with the headphones themself? THanks

Isn't your mixer set to "split cue" ?
ajandb128    posted on 17-09-2007 23:58
nope, they do it in every cue setting

I've got (sometimes!) the same problem with my Pioneer SE-DJ5000. I can't imagine it's a broken cable because it has just a new one...

yeah, it's only sometimes here too. But i sure want to figure out how to make it NEVER! haha

correction, the left ear plays significantly louder than the right. So i still have sound out of both ears on stereo, just not equal. (yes the balance on the mixer is center) and no i'm not in split cue.

That's it : try the headphones on another mixer or amplifier. If it does the same for that, it's definitly the HDJ (go back ot the dealer for warranty). If the HDJ sounds good it could be something with your mixer...

I had the same problem with my djm400 but if i turn the mastervolume up its getting better in your hp. Its just if your right earphone is relateted to your mastervolume

Is the knob Cue/Master (above Headphone volume knop) rotated to 'Cue' (all left) ?

The cue/master knob is centered. And when I put it to CUE it stays the same. Also, when I put it on master. I'm thinking it may be the 1/4" adapter, because when I use the headphones in a different source in the stereo setting, all is fine. And they work fine in the MONO setting. (I get equal sound in both ears) But that still doesn't rule out the posibility of it being the mixer. I just got the mixer, damn I really hope it isn't.

sorry i forgot to add that the headphones work fine in a different source with the 1/8'' I need to test them in a different source with the 1/4" in stereo

Is the adapters screwed tightly enough ??

If it works fine with the 1/4 connector, go back to the shop and let them replace the adapter.

Figured it out. Well after losing sleep last night to the posibility that my mixer might have a problem, I finally decided to get smart and realize that my dumbass over-looked the MONO SLIP/STEREO switch right above Cue/Master knob. Somehow it got bumped to MONO SPLIT and that was why in the STEREO setting on my headphones I was only getting sound outa one ear. So, hopefully my mistake here will help others that might do the same thing in the future, and potentially go out and buy a new set of headphones or MIXER like I almost did.

B.T.W. Posting this was a huge sacrifice to my ego. haha. I had to though. THanks for all your help guys.
