Hey guys, I need help making my recoded mixes sound better. I know theres a post on here about how to do so, but I'm trying to get a little more information in a little easier to understand terms. First off, I use two CDJ-800 MK2's going into a DJM-800 digitally. My levels are all good out and in. (9.5) I use analog record out from the mixer into LINE-in to my computers internal audigy soundcard. I record my mixes into audacity, then export Mp3 320kbps after normalizing. The mixes sound OKAY, but not great. What advice can I get to help better the sound quality? Are there other things I should do? Please Help!
THank You

i think the normalizing future you use is making your sound quality poor. try to level your sound in audacity manual to 0 db level.. oterwise try to use another program like soundforge 6 (there are newer ones but i like 6 still) cheers marcel
Record using the digital output of the mixer help increasing the quality. Most soundcards have a digital input nowadays.
Afterwards you could use a compressor or peak limiter to top-off your waveform, loosing the tiny peaks a click or crack might produce. this wil sett the level for your normalize routine. There is nothing wrong with normalizing, I use Soundforge to do it, but it uses the highest peak in the audio and sets that as a max level.
But making a mix sound good with audio effects is a profession on it's own. Using limiters and/or compressors can really help you, but without any knowledge of threshold level and ratio I'm afraid there is not much you can do other than normalizing...
