Fader Start Cable

Okay, I'm trying to EXPLORE the Faderstart option on my DJM-3000. I am using Denon 2100F and 2600F's. I am using standard MONO audio mini plugs to connect the mixer to the decks and odd things happen. When fading from channel 'x' to channel 'y' - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... mostly doesn't. And the previous channel plays for a few miliseconds and stops... WHAT THEConfused Am I not using the proper cable? Problems between Denon and Pioneer? Am I just retarded? HELP!

I think there is a compatibility problem between Denon and Pioneer. I never figered out according to what protocol Denon uses it's Faderstart.

you are using the correct cable when it comes to the Pioneer mixer, but I'm not exaclty sure that the Denon uses the same protocol since Pioneer uses their own (More info : //www.djresource.eu/Topics/story/44/Faderstart-on-CDJ/CMX/

I'll try to get some Denon info about this issue, but I rely on the dutch distributor on it. I  hope to get back in this is a short while...

I've checked the FaderStart control circuit from the DN-2600 and the protocol that Denon uses seems to be the same as Pioneer does.

On the Pioneer a CUE Point is required to work. The same goes for the Denon but it uses a Hot Cue instead. So first set a Hot Cue (a1 or a2 button), switch on the Fader Start (press button) on the DJM-3000 and : Go for it ! :D

And to keep this information from getting lost, I've updated this topic :

I just spoke to Denon support, the technician said that although the concept is the same for their Faderstart feture in regards to Pioneer, Denon uses a STEREO mini plug while PIONEER uses the MONO plug.  The diference only being the placement of the channel ring on the plugs.  So, to be 100% compatible, I think I might have to MODIFY a cable to match both units to their own requirements.  I will end up with a cable that is Stereo (Denon) to Mono (Pioneer)... I wonder why no one has spoke of this before?

Denon specs:

sw1 = LEFT CHANNEL RING
sw2 = GROUND

or just use the Denon cable... that should work I assume

Unfortunately, no.  If you use a standard STEREO Mini Audio cable, NOTHING happens  Then use Mono it TRIES to work and plays for a millisecond...

I am considering replacing my Denon decks with the CMX-3000... and then, NO PROBLEMS!

Ok!  EASY SOLUTION!  I have standard STEREO MINI AUDIO Plugs (Denon likes these), I went and bought Stereo to MONO adapters - makes stereo connect into MONO for PIONEER!  $0.99 each so, that cost all of $8.00!

Well, back to the drawing board.  After all weekend and several days of configuring cables, changing cables, and making cables... it appears that natively Denon and Pioneer are not FRIENDS at all.  They do not play well together!  So, I am thinking that what Lead has said is right, Den & Pio use the SAME concept, but I think they might use different polarity!  So I am going to make two new cables, Denon specs on one side and Pio specs on the other!  Will keep you updated!

hehe... me too :D

But this is a bit sad that both do not match, it makes life un-easy

Not back to the drawing boards !

Yesterday I've finally had the opportunity to do some checking... And how surprising : when a Denon DN-6000 is connected with a mono mini-jack to a Pioneer DJM-707 the faderstart work immidiatly !

So Pioneer and Denon seems to be compatible with eachother.

I'll try to do the same test in some more configurations when there is time, but I think at least the dn-6000 is compatible.

Hi Guy's,

Did you have any luck matching the Pioneer DJM-3000 Mixer with the Denon DN-6000.
I recently purchased both of these item togther.
If you did I would be very greatful if you could confirm for me the exact cable required.

I could make one up if I needed to.

Regards

Steve

The cables are the same, make sure to activate the fadersart on the mixer and make a Hot Cue on the DN-S6000 to work get it working.

I've not been able to test you configuration, but I assume it should work fine.
