While playing it shuts down and displays '? 666discs? '? Then resets itself and turns back on.

Sometimes doing this numerous times before being able to stay on.

This has never happened before.? I cannot find any info about this type of error.?

Any ideas?

Perhaps something develish.... :D

666discs is the message you get when the CDJ finds CUE/Loop information on your MMC of 666 discs in total. Allthough the number is a little odd, nothing to worry about this is completely normal.

Since it's an MK2 -> Do you still have warenty ?? If so, bringt it away  to any of the service stations.

When exaclty does the CDJ stop, does this occure on different evenings/times or is it always with the 6th CD you play on track 7 that the CDJ starts to act weird ??

Does this error start each time with the same track/type of discs (recorder or original)....

Just to check :

- Nothing is wrong with your power supply ?? Fluctuating currents can really have strange electronical disturbences.
- Is it with original CD's or with burned ones ??

It turns off randomly.  When inserting a disc, while playing a song, while cueing a song.  Whenever.  Sometimes it will only do it once.  Other times it will turn off, I will turn it on, it will turn off.  Doing this a NUMBER of times.  The discs types dont seem to matter.  Originals or burned its behavior isnt picky.

Tried a different outlets.  No change.

One thing I noticed at the end of the night was when all the music was off, it makes a buzzing noise and the unit is hot.  Noticably hotter than our other one.

Also the display from left to right gets dimmer.  The left side of the display is normal.  But the right side is dimly lit.  I didnt really notice it until I looked at our other one next to it.

Its probably fried.  Hopefully its still under warranty, I'll find out tonight after work.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Thankfully we had our backups still hooked up!

I naver heard about something like this. Also getting your display dimmer on one side than the other is something weird. When the displays dimms it's most of the time something about the power supply.

But making a display fade from left to right is hardly impossible.

I'm afraid that only Pioneer Service can get your problem solved....

Bike week just ended last week.  Now into Spring Break!  Yes its BIIIGGG...a LOOOOTT of bikes.  Traffic sucks, but its cool to look at all the bikes.

I scoured the internet for any of the problems we had and found nothing.  We sent it off for repairs..oh well.

Thanks...
