DJM 500/600/3000 differences?

Okay, at the moment, I'm using an old school Pioneer mixer - no effects, no fancy stuff at all - just good sound. However, I am looking into purchasing the DJM 500, 600 or the 3000. Can someone PLEASE help me understand the differnce of each? I know they are all similar, but I am confused. They 500 has effects and only 4 cd/line connects. The 600 has 5 connects with effects and a sampler. The 3000 is JUST like the 600 but has 7 connects, but no sampler... Is the sampler the only difference and what is the benefit of this sampler? Thanks!

Danke!  Now, according to that site - THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 600 OR 3000.  They have the same features... sampler and all.  Why the HUGE price difference then?  The 600 will go for overe $1000 while you can find the 3000 for as low as $700!  The 3000 has more connects!  ugh!

Well, I just picked one up (the 3000 that is for $500)  that's less than HALF orginal price!  Same guy has the 600 for $900!  WHY IS THIS SO MUCH MOREConfused I was hoping that it was the sampler, but thx to the link that Gilles posted, they both have a sampler... and if the 3000 has fader effects... maybe it's the size?  3000 is a 19", too big for some maybe?  Not for me!

DJM-500:

Nice mixer, also refered to als the 'old-school' mixer, features effects, assignable crossfader and some other features.

DJM-600:

New and improved version of the 500 with

  • 3 phono inputs
  • better sound quality
  • better and faster controll to BPM sync the effects
  • Sampler
  • Effect Mix parameter
  • Record out
  • Headphones split
  • Smoother faders
  • Faders are more easy to replace and can be done by yourself

DJM-3000 :

All features from the DJM-600, but now in a 19"rackmount housing. The 3000 DOES NOT have a sampler, but you can hook up 4 Turntables on the Phone inputs. The 3000 does give you 3 rhythmical ways to work with your effects.

The 600's sampler is a lot of fun, but if it costs a lot extra it might not be worth it for you...

Thanks Lead!  That clears it up!  Some of the reseller's descriptions I've read are wrong.  Some of them say the 3000 HAS a sampler.  But really, what big deal is it?  I make all my loops on the denon's and spin my tracks on the Techs. And I am needing the 7 line-in's and (4x CD, 1 D-TT, 1 MD, 1 AUX) and 2+ phono's... My ONLY problem with the 600 is too few inputs!  So, what advantage is the sampler?

more creativity... it is usefull.. i would sugest getting a soundbite but seeming u are useing all your inputs a sound bite would be pretty useless.

WELL..... I got my 3000 last week.  Yes, nice features, lots of options.  AND YET slightly cumbersome...  I will have to "learn" how to use it!   The sound is great, little or no hum/noise - But I really am wondering (no offense LEAD, please don't kill me) why a $1,200 price tag.  I got mine for $500, but seeing what's out there now and much less price... man - Pioneer REALLY likes it's name, eh?
jordy    posted on 16-03-2005 18:51
why not.. ppl will buy pioneer anyway

Maybe Pioneer is one of the few that have a good R&D department...

Pioneer industry firsts :

Table top DJ CD player
Effector specially for DJs
Master Tempo
Seamless Loop (of infinit length)
DVD with scratch and pitch
Touch sensitive Jog Plate

And probably there are some more... the price is what Pioneer has invested before a product is launched in research to find out what to make to please most DJ worldwide.

Yeah... I guess I'm just one of the herd! :P Seriously, a little disappointed in the awkwardness of the features like BPM and cue section. NOT VERY INTUITIVE! Now, LEAD'S REALLY GONNA KILL ME! Check out this new one from Gemini:

http://store.hdjpro.com/gemmmi3.html

or this one from American Audio (alright, American Audio isn't the BEST company, but this looks like it could be just like the DJM-3000)

http://www.adjaudio.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1187&cat=Mixers I saw this on another site for only $399

BUT, I do LOVE the CLEAN SOUND!!!  Noticeable differnece!

It's never said that the DJM-3000 is an intuitive mixer, it's a re=modelled DJM-600 with some new fx features. There is hardly anything new for the DJM-3000 accept for some small stuff.

Well,  I spent a lot of time playing with this mixer and I'm starting to appreciate the research and design that LEAD talked about!  The sound is AWSOME, the effects are AWSOME, and the controls are superb.  Like I said, I would have to learn how to use this mixer, but once you do... man, I AM HAPPY TO HAVE IT!  The only thing I would like is to be able to COMBINE effects...

Not in a subject, the price cost Pioneer DJM-500 or DJM-600.

I'm sorry Dj-LeniX... I don't understand your comment?

I believe he's trying to say that the price for the DJM 3000 is the same as the price for the DJM 500 or the same price as the DJM 600.

Correct me if i'm wrong

I own a 3000 and its quality is awesome, yes it has a lot of functions but you eventually are going to get used to them. great purchase Winking my eye

Does anyone knows if Pioneer is releasing something similar to the 600? but in different format/style? perhaps a mod?
