Ok here we go, been asked a million times I know! Looking to add a cdj to my 1210's. I've been using cd's for years on various platforms and I have a cheap player that does the job. The obvious choice is a CDJ1000 but they're expensive. A friend has got the Numark Axis 9's which I like as they have some good effects and are a good price. This is the dilemma where I'd really appreciate some constructive advice. Are the CDJ's really worth spending that kind of money or should I go for the numark or should I go for something else?

I realise the two platforms are different but as I say I can mix cd's with either so that's doesn?t worry me. Just like to know your views. Thanks.

To my opinion : it's worth the money.

I've started with vinyl (as most people) but with the comming of the CDJ-1000 my world has changed :D

What mixer do you have and what style of music do you play ?

Ever thought about the CDJ-800MK2 ? Much cheaper and has the same jogwheel as the CDJ-1000MK2.

I play mostly house, electro and trance. I don't scratch or saything like that. I did think about the 800 but it would always be in the back of mind that I could have a 1000 if I saved a bit more. Whats the differance between the two in real terms?

Check this topic for all differences : Comparison chart.

In the CDJ-800MK2 and CDJ-1000MK3 topics you can see the differences between the different MK's

My tip: Go to the nearest Pioneer dealer and test the two players out yourself.
For house the CDJ-1000's wave display and hot-cue's are very usefull. On the other hand you might find the 800's auto-beat loop very usefull (CDJ-1000 has no form of auto-beat looping at all), but then again: the CDJ-1000 had loop In and Out adjust, where the 800 only has out adjust (wich is enough to make a perfect loop btw).
Ask yourself the question: Wich features are important to you, and are you willing to pay (a lot) more for the extra functions on the 1000?
