Hey Guys,

I signed up a while ago and have been making use of all the useful info. I thought it was about time I introduced myself :P

I was born in Amsterdam, lived in Alkmaar until I was 12 yrs old and then I moved with my family to Australia. Right now I´m in Brazil for 10 months (until the end of 2006).
Next year I start Electrical Engineering and Finance at Adelaide university. I´m 18 years old by the way.

I´ve always been a big fan of electronic music (it´s the Dutch genes) and always used to choose music to bring to my friend´s house-parties and watch the dance-floor go off.
The last few months the urge to start DJing has increased and now I can´t wait to get back to AUS and buy some decks and start learning!

I´ve decided that I´m going to start out with CDs. Although vinyl could be seen as more original/cool I already have around 3000 mp3s, so it´s more cost-effective to burn those to CD. As it stands, I´ll prob get a pioneer set with two CDJ-200´s and a DJM-400. I like the fact that it´s a simple set, but with plenty of features and effects. I want to start out just learning to mix and playing as a hobby, and once I´m good enough play at parties etc..

That´s all!

Feel free to reply in English or Dutch, ik spreek, schrijf en versta beide!

Hey Spageddy, welcome on DJResource..

you've been traveling around a lot... Just wondering, what's your nationality by feeling ?? Dutch because you grew up here... Oz, brazilian or perhaps allready American ?

The CDJ-200 have some limitations for VBR MP3's, CDJ-800mk2 perform flawless with all kind of MP3's I could find...

Enjoy your stay here :D

Yea, moving around the world can make life a bit disrupting and confusing at times, but I think I´ve been given a pretty unique chance.

Right now I feel half Australian and half Dutch. I can´t ignore the fact that I lived the first 12 years of my life in Holland. And I´ve spent a good 6 years in Australia, doing high school and all. Brazil, because I came here at a later age (17/18) won´t become another nationality I think (unless I marry a Brazilian :P) but I´ve definitely picked up some of the Brazilian ways...and another language

I don´t think the VBR mp3 problem with the cdj-200 is a big problem. Just a question of encoding my mp3s with CBR.

What mixer performs well with the CDJ-800MK2´s?
and is there a big difference in learning to beatmix on cd instead of vinyl?

thanks guys

There is no mixer to match a cd player. Only for looks.

A cd player has an audio output and perhaps a Faderstart. Other than that a mixer is used on it's own. I would say a DJM-800 would fit perfectly if the budget is big enough Winking my eye

Learning to beatmatch goes the same on Vinyl and CD. Only the way you make your pitch corrections is done slightly different. But the actual part where you need to synchronise 2 tracks is the same.

oké mensen, bedankt!

tja, djm-800 is een beetje boven het budget. Als ik terug in Aus ben ga ik eens rustig naar de dj shop op te kijken, proberen en vragen. Pioneer spreekt me wel aan, maar is duurder..
