How do you launch your record?

That simple question isn't that simple...
If you do use turntables... I guess that before cueing and releasing the record you did adjust the pitch and you're releasing it with your "hand"... no other choice...
That said I know a few people that are adjusting the pitch after having released the record... (sounds like a waste of time for me... and a waste of beats (music))

The big question is how do you do that with a CD gear... (whatever the brand is...)

1. You can do it just as with turntables... (that's what I'm using until now...)
2. But I've been said that after adjusting the pitch you can cue up the record and launch it by using the Cue button(just to feel it the next beat) and the Play button to actually release it.

Before trying it I was 100% sure that method n?1 (the one that I've always used) would be more precise...
Method n?2 was suprisingly as efficient... no big mistake with that one... weird

As you might know, I'm new to CD gears... so how do you do that on your side...?!?

That said, whatever the method used I'm always adjusting the pitch before releasing a record as I hate doing that while mixing (unless I absolutely need to correct the fact that the 2 records aren't synched)

Your opinion about that?

I think it doesn't matter what kind of start for the record you use.
you must choose whatever you like the best.

What I like is using the cue/play buttons
Waarom lees je dit nu eigenlijk ?

In Genreal : before you open the fader on the mixer your records needs to be straight.... A tiny small correction can be made if you discover that your records are a tiny bit off-sync. Just be aware of the moment that you make this little correction, the best way to hide it a little it to do it on the 4th beat of a bar. If you lower the right channel fader a little bit while you do the correction, hardly anybody will hear.

For vinyl : A records is put at the beat and sweeped with the right beat, on the right moment you just let it go...

For CD : I use a different technique for CD mixing,.. the CUE button. I use the CUE button as some sort of sampler/stutter... Tapping it at the first bear of a measure and holding it untill if goes offbeat (max 8/12 beats), then make a correction with the pitch slider and tapping the Cue button again on the next first beat of a measure. The first few times I hold it for max. 4 beats, this gives me enough info to make the proper corrections.
When it comes to a near-sunc-situation I start the track at the first beat with the Play button and do the stuff you're used to with a vinyl deck (pitch bending with the jog).

Just my piece of thoughts Thumbs Up I can do a better description if you don't know what I mean by this... let me know..

Ok... so you're not launching it with your hand then... ("turntable methodology")... weird... I do find that way more confortable... I guess this is just a practising issue

What I do is first get the rough pitch setting correctly in the right area, this I do by using the CUE button as a stutter and only listen to the first 4-5 beats.

Once I get is as sync as possible I get the right beat and either use the PLAY button to start, or if I'm short in time and when I'm still holding the CDJ's  'platter' I just release it. I find using the Play button to release to be the most accurate (allthough I am still playing with vinyl aswell)....

I use the joghwheel mainly to find certain spots on the track, or to quickly find a CUE point.
