KEY value not showing in RekordBox 2.0.1

Hi all!

Not all the tracks in my RekordBox collection are showing the KEY values stored in the KEY field of the ID3 Tag (either v2.4 or v2.3).

I have analysed these tracks using MIK, tracks are stored in iTunes and added to my RekordBox collection using the Bridge functionality of RekordBox.

Other Dj software (Traktor Scratch Pro 2.6 and Scratch Live) ARE showing all KEY values for all tracks. ?I have done the iTuned trick and wrote all ID3 Tag values again for all tracks and told RekordBox to Reload Tag and Get Infor From iTunes, with no luck.

Adding KEY values to another ID3 Tag is not an option for me, since my Comments contain different information for my workflow and I want to use the KEY field for.... exactly... KEY's! Happy, laughing

Please advise!

Analyze your songs in mixed in key and store it in your key tag.?
import your songs in rekordbox (no bridge, just add music/map), but you have to make sure that the option inside rekordbox to analyze tracks for key is switched off. everything should be displayed correctly.

You could analyze the key of your tracks with Rekordbox, perhaps that sorts it out...
Rekordbox should display the values that MIK calculated aswell, but it seems not to do it for you for some reason.

You could do what Mikedhanpat says as last resort...

Analyzing with RekordBox is not an option, since the KEY notation is different. Most likely skipping 'Bridge' is no option either since I use iTunes as my library manager that Traktor, Serato Scratch Live and RekordBox interact with. That way I have only 1 copy of the file on my SSD (on which space is a bit precious) and importing it straight in the RekordBox Collection results in a duplicate file (with all the Auto Gain value mess as a consequence)

Any other suggestions Happy, laughing

I use on the same computer Traktor, Rekordbox and Serato (DJ and Intro) and all are using the same folder of tracks (no iTunes) and it works like a charm for me. It seems like iTunes messes up....

I only needed to remove 10k tracks as it took ages for Traktor to start up, Serato and Rekordbox seem to work fine with database of 15k+ tracks...

I got the same problem a while ago (without using iTunes btw). The only things left for me to do back then was either delete the song from Rekordbox and add it again, or fill in the key manually in Rekordbox. I'm not sure how you can fix this while using the bridge but perhaps this is useful for you.
Beatmatching is overrated

On the other hand. I was a bit scary too that my key notations would mess up with the camelot system and the alphabetic notation. but It really ain't that hard!?

And if you are searching on your cdj-2000nxs for key it gives you the alphabetic notation nonetheless (even if you have camelot in rekordbox).

And even more, the CDJ can browse and show tracks on the device that are key-matched to the key or track that is currently playing. It makes the numbers and color moatch no longer needed.

Press info, use rotary to select Key of track info and press the rotary.
Now you see a list of tracks that are key-matched to the one that is currently playing.
