How to Choose a Laptop Battery?

Hello,
I have a two year old?-knip- laptop. For the past couple of months, the battery has begun to seriously deteriorate in performance... If the laptop is switched off with full power, by the time I boot, only 5 minutes is now available before it turns off...
Hence, I am looking at replacing the battery. The following are my doubts
The laptop was purchased in the US. Will there be any difficulty getting replacement battery?here?
Should I contact hp or will local stores have replacements?
Will it be possible to go for 9 cell batteries for improved ?battery life?
Can power surges affect battery life? Is it necessary to connect the power through a surge protector?
More often than not I use the laptop when connected to power, but regularly I need to work without power. Hence, I cant remove the battery as recommended by many. Is it better to have the power always on or regularly discharge the batteries?
I am thinking of getting a cooling pad to improve battery heat dissipation. I want one that is cheap (less than 1000 preferably) and effective. Please suggest brand and model along with approximate cost.How to Choose a Laptop Battery online,such as?knip??

I think the best thing you can do is head to the HP website and fill in your model en perhaps serialnumber (I'm not familiar with HP). Probably you can purchase a new battery directly from their website. It shouldn't make any difference if it comes from the states or not, since there is always an adapter to convert the AC voltage to DC voltage in order to recharge the battery.?

Should you not be able to buy a battery there, I think there will be enough third party websites who do. Just type into google your make and model number followed by battery and you'll get results.?

Best thing to keep you battery alive is to prevent it from completely discharging, always hook it up on power when you're down to lets say 10-15%. If you are down to 0% it is the most horrible thing to do to a battery. Also when you don't use it for a while it is best to hook it up to power regularly to prevent deep discharging.?

Also power surges won't do any damage because of the adapter that is placed between your power outlet and your laptop's input.?

You say don't go below 10% (and I believe you) but why do a lot of company's tell you to calibrate once a month ( so take it to 2 or even 0%)?

crap niet door gehad haha, het was nog vroeg!?
Fasa, wij zitten met ons bedrijf in accu's (SLA, Lithium ion, lithium polymer) en diepe ontlading is het ergste wat er is. Je hebt dan kans dat er meerdere cellen kapot gaan waardoor het lijkt alsof hij wel goed oplaadt, maar bij de minste of geringste belasting de capaciteit meteen weg valt.?
Waarom bedrijven hier aan vast houden weet ik niet. Vroeger was het wel zo om bij eerste gebruik de accu eerst een paar keer te ontladen tot 5-10% en daarna weer op te laden zodat deze als het ware wakker is. Tegenwoordig is dat niet meer nodig.
