A couple of months ago, I started DJ'ing with vinyl, but after much consideration I decided to switch to CD's. I read about the CMX-5000 and it seems a good choice, but it sounds too good to be true.

Auto-Mix? Having expierence with BPM counters, I can't imagine it making a halfway decent mix. Also, I intend to buy a new mixer too.

So if not the CMX-5000, what combination of CD-Players and mixer do you recommend? budget is approximately 700-850 euro.

The Pioneer CMX-5000 is unfortunaty not available anymore. Pioneer stoppen shipping these players about half a year ago (early 2005). You will probably only find 2de hand units. I doubt that you can find one new these days.

The Auto-Mix amazingly works nice. Not everytime, but once you know how to use it, it's making a correct mix 9/10 times.

Perhaps a CMX-3000 is good for you ??

Why did they discontinue the 5000?  It seemd like a very nice dual CD player unit?

True,
But I guess there will be new pioneer double decks...
The CMX-5000 is discontinued, and the CMX-3000 has a problem with reading dirty discs,
I got the feeling Pioneer will come with something new.....
