The new Allen & Heath Xone:3d Mixer/Midi Controller

Pioneer Press Release:
Pioneer introduces portable flat panel speakers for architectural installations, stylish bars and cutting edge mobile DJ’.

In response to the demand for high-quality yet lightweight portable speakers, Pioneer Europe N.V. today introduced the S-FL1 flat panel speaker designed for use at stylish bars or events that require great sound quality with compact speakers. Pioneer was able to create the slim design speaker by using NXT™ SurfaceSound™, based on Distributed Mode Loudspeaker technology. The S-FL1 flat panel speaker is designed for easy installation, providing high quality omni directional sound, making it ideal for mobile DJs and bands playing at small clubs, bars and open-air events. They’re also intended for high-end press conferences and corporate events where there are multimedia presentations to large audiences.

This new speaker provides a tremendous amount of sound in a small package. The S-FL1 weighs in at less than 10kg and is only 5.5cm deep. It can be mounted with almost any third-party speaker bracket for easy set-up and tear-down,” said Jason Pook, European Product Manager, Pioneer Europe N.V.

High Quality Audio
Pioneer’s new flat panel speaker system with NXT technology radiates sound across the surface of the speaker. This produces a uniform sound across the entire listening area.

Its performance specifications include:

• Exciter: Voice Coil Diameter 25 mm X 4
• Nominal Impedance: 8 ohm
• Frequency Response: 60 – 15,000 Hz
• Output sound level: 90 dB
• Permissible input: 240W

Since the NXT technologie is probably not known by lots of people so here is a little information about this technology

NXT SurfaceSound
Distribution Mode Loudspeaker Technology
Unique flat loudspeaker technology utilising a vast choice of panel materials and suitable for an unlimited range of applications.

NXT's revolutionary Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) technology operates under bending wave principle. Applications range from audio, multimedia and architectural to automotive, mobile communications and professional audio. Today, with a wide choice of panel materials and exciters available through our licensees, NXT technology offers a unique set of opportunities, combining quality acoustics with freedom in aesthetic design for all types of sound reproduction systems.

SurfaceSound Technology Facts:

SurfaceSound technology is a unique flat speaker technology that utilises a vast choice of panel materials suitable for a wide choice of applications.

Based on DML technology, in which the resonant modes of a panel are optimally excited by a transducer (exciter), SurfaceSound technology delivers a truly remarkable diffuse sound field over a wide audio frequency bandwidth. Resulting key acoustic properties include reduced destructive interaction with the boundaries of the listening space and lessened fall-off in sound pressure with distance.

The pure, coherent and uncoloured sound quality produced by SurfaceSound technology makes it possible to design slim, space-saving speakers that deliver expansive sound to fill the listening area.
