How to make my pc a stereo

   

Hello!
I just bought 2 cdjs and a mixer for Home Made Mixing (...for now) and I was wondering if I am able to connect my mixer's output to the Line in of my sound card and listening my mixing on Cdjs through my pc's speakers! I have a simple Sound Card (I think 1 output, 1 Line in and sth else...)

in stead of routing your audio through your computer you could just buy a simple hardware convertor cable (2,5mm jack female to cinch red white plug) and directly hook up your pc speakers.

if you wanna rout it through your pc you need a cinch to 2,5mm male plug so you can input the sound in your line in.

if you rout it through your computer I advise you not to use the master but the record out since that a nce 0db output and you can use your computer internal sound mixer to amplify your signal.

I tried waht you said, firstly I connected the 2 RCAs (Red and White) from the master output to the Line In of my sound card and I could barely listen the sound through the speakers. Actually, I think the Line In is a recording device and not a sound output! Afterwards, I tried the way you recommended most from the Record output of my mixer with the same cable and I had the same output sound!
My sound card is "Realtek High Definition Audio" so if possible you can see what plugs has (in google) and let me know if possible how can I achieve to make the PC like a stereo!
P.S. I didn't manage to amplify as you said the signal through my pc...the Line In showed that sound comes in but I didn't have sound output!

i'll try to explane i hope you'll understand my english.

first of all i think it wil be much more easy if you don't use the pc. i'll explane you how.
first have a look at the cable of your speakers, i think you got 3 posible cables

cable 1: jack to jack


if it is one like this. i recoment you buy an other one a jack to rca (see below) so you can put the red&white in the mixer straight into the speakers

cable 2 or 3 (jack to rca or rca to rca)

or


if you got one of these its easy just put one red&white in the mixer and one in the speakers.

I have all the 3 types...my speakers are very simple and they are connected in the pc output with a male jack...they don't have a subwoofer...they are speakers (Labtec) for desks...they don't have none of the 3 inputs RCA or jacks (picture 1) so i think I have to buy better ones! If i CAN'T GO THROUGH MY SOUND CARD!

Which version of windows are you using?  apparently the windows sound mixer (start > run > sndvol32 OR double click the speaker icon next to your clock) in windows vista works differently then in windows XP.

Start by setting your volume control on your speakers relatively low

Connect your master out to your PC line in (line in (mostly green) IS NOT the same as mic in (mostly red) !!! )

Play a song through your mixer with normal channel EQ and gain but with a low master output

Open the windows sound mixer and look at the "line in" part

gradually adjust volumes on your mixer, pc line in reception and your speakers volume knob to obtain a clear sound from your speakers.

I did this many times with my former pc (win XP) and this always worked like a charm...

Ok Gery! I did what you said but I searched through internet and many people face the problem that I still face which is: Same problem here... Dell Laptop, sigmatel drivers, can't figure out how to monitor through line-in 'live' as the music plays. The funny thing is it will record and I can see the meter moving... I guess the whole thing is tailored not for music or advanced sound monitoring, but for using mic during internet telephony or for speech recognition. Did you find a solution for this as I would love to know
