That's a difficult one. Offcourse there are plenty of good monitors around like the Yamaha NS-10 which is an industry standard monitor. But with  the 8-10"speakers size there are lots of speakers available.

I use Syrincs MM5 as monitors, MM8/MM12b as main speakers.
Let the BASS be louder

You know, the Behringer B2031A sound nice. Better than the 2030A's at least. And it isn't too high in price at +- 200 euro a pair. And if you still need some more bass, consider adding the B2092A subwoofer that will be available 3rd quarter this year at +- 250 euro.

Those are ACTIVE speakers, mind you and for your 450 euro, you get a good sounding active set, that can go pretty loud (360 watt sub,  2 x 150 mid/low and 2 x 75 watt high)...

And I think a separate subwoofer is better in your music style.

Tannoy also has a line of monitorspeakers you should check out, both active and passive. JBL also has a great monitor line-up.

Ok, it's not designed to be a monitor, but the NHT (Now Hear This) SuperOne is a great little speaker that might just do the trick for you. Great quality, not expensive.

MadSteven, 2031A's for 200 a pair? I didn't find them.... Some people advised me the M-Audio Studiophile LX-4 2.1 set (including a subbie). They're cheaper than the 2031's, but clear frequency and more neutral sound. They have less output, but hey do you really need that 2x150+2x75(+1x360) in your bedroom? To be honest, I'm still not sure if i'm gonna buy the 2031a's or the LX4 set. I hope I find some time this week to listen to both sets.

I didn't listen to the LX4 so far. But according to the reviews on the net and personal opinions, I've ordered the LX-4 today. I'll keep you guys updated. I'll have them by Monday or Tuesday.

Also listen to tapco S4 en S8 please ,
They are honest nice little fellas with enormous response wich is almost flat over the complete frequency range.
They are made bij mackie and lots of the specs you,ll find in mackies HR series can be found in the tapco,s
Again i say (like the behringer DJX topic) don,t buy cheap , listen good with different styles of music.
It,s better to reserve some money for a proper set of monitors.
Yhis is so fu&*^^**% important cause the monitors are the mirrors of your sound.
If your monitors do sound crap , your whole mix would sound alike.

Dynaudio
KRK
Tapco
Tannoy Reveal
Phonic=honest sound for the lower budget just like the make samson.
but last to are quite a step down when you look at the top of my list

extreme good listening is my advice

when it comes to monitoring ,the choise of a pair is very personal.
Important is that instruments played over monitors sound like they are supposed to sound like when played by the artist.
good luck!
