Active or passive speakers which is best

   

When buying a new set of speakers a Dj wants the best for his hard earned Dj dollars so what does he buy traditional passive speakers or active ones any expeirences or comments.

It's not a simple question. There are so much fact taken in account when a pro would make such a choice.

Smaller (monitor) systems are often bought powered to save the troubles of cabling the system etc. Also at a lower power level you don't need to worry about heat.

Bigger systems need bigger power and so also need bigger cooling to get all the heat out of the cabinet. When you need big power and don't want  to spend  to much money you should go for passive system.

I am considering a self build project for a passive system I want really low bass frequencies for drum and bass with an impressive look any ideas or plans. What about scoop bass bins any one found a cheap way to build a pair of those. also what drivers are people using right now.
