It's just a matter of taste. I do find a little bit tilting nice to play and would prefer that. But as DJM-800 is mostly flat I'm ok with that aswel :D

I had, for a while a book under my djm-400, so it was tilted a bit, it was nice, however, it doesnt bother me if it's flat. When I'm buying a 12" mixer, I'm quite sure I'll tilt it a bit! (Real, not with a book..:P)

I have build my own booth and everything is build into the booth.

I'ts like Lead says, that it's a matter of your own personal taste. I decided to not tilt my DJM-600 because I had to make more adjustments to my booth. (I'm not a real good d.i.y. person, you know ...Cool)

By the way, you can not build in your CD-players, unless you have top-loaders.

Here a picture of my booth:

If a mixer is too much tilted it's not fine. But like a Rodec or Ecler 19" mixer is just fine. Most slanted flightcases or dj cases are also tilted.

thanks guys I think i'll leave it flat as thats what I've been used to.. just wondered if there was a special reason why people tilt them.

@ DjDyno: I think when I build my CDJs into the booth, I'll miss out a section on the fron so the disc loading slot is still accessable.. it shouldnt look bad as I wont have a large about of table untill the decks only about 2 inches, and was thinking of having blue LEDs shining down on them (it'll go with my blue LEDs on my technics once I install them tomoro)

I've worked with my mixer on an angel and when it was flat on the table. You just get used to the situation. It both has is advantages and disadvantages. When the mixer is in an angel you've a clear look over the mixer, with is nice, but I've also experienced that I couldn't work as fast with de faders as when the mixer was flat on the tabel (maby that's why you mostley doesn't see scratchters having a mixer in an angel?). What I found really interesting is that I found myself mixing smooth when my mixer was mounted in an angel in my flightcase and when it was out and flat on the tabel I used more cutting techniques. I was doing this without thinking about it at the moment. I'm not saying that this happens to other people, but it could be Happy, laughing. Just my experience.

Right now my mixer is flat on my table, because I've sold my case a while ago and I just think it works fine. I'm not missing that extra clearity or something. The only thing is that you always have to look down to see your mixer, which gets irritating when you're doing a long mixing session. But I guess I like my mixer flat best, just because it works faster for me.
