Pioneer DJ Firmware Update Button Combinations  Which buttons to press to boot in Update Mode

When you buy a piece of kit it has a certain set of features and functions. Sometimes the manufactorer adds functionality or improves functions it allready has. These functions are added by updating the firmware. It's the users responsibility to check his gear every now and then to see if it is still up to date.

What is Firmware ? To Overview

Firmware is the software that runs on the machine to control all the functions and to translates the pressing of a button or the sliding of a fader to something that can be used to perform the requested action.

Without the proper firmware certain features might not work or improvements to the general performance are not applied, so it is important to always run the latest version of the firmware available for your machine.

It is always best to update your gear so it runs the latest firmware.

What to do ?

First check the firmware of your equipment to see if you need to apply the update. If you allready have the latest version there is no need to try to update and you can stop reading this Topic

Downloading the Update

Only if you are runbning an older version firmware than the latest, you should download the latest version and proceed.

On the download page on the PioneerDJ website you will also find the instructions how to check your version and how to apply it.

There are roughly 2 option, depanding on the piece of gear you need to update. It's either downloading the update and put it on a USB device or run an update application on your computer.

1. USB Update
   You will need to download a .zip or .upd file, this needs to be put in the root of an empty FAT32 formatted USB.
   Then the gear needs to be started in Update-Mode by holding down 2 buttons on the hardware. The update will start when you insert the USB and then WAIT.
   Be patience, sometimes it can take up to 20 seconds before the update start !
   
   
2. Software Update
   For some equipment the update is done by connecting your hardware with USB to a computer and then you run the Updater application. The update that you download is the Updater tool and also has the firmware version build in. This application will check the firmware version and if needed it will install the new firmware.

Where to download the proper version ?

You should always and only obtain firmware from the website of the manufactorer.
For Pioneer DJ equipment you can find all firmware on the official website : http://www.pioneerdj.com.

The following overview shows you the buttons you need to press to start the update. You can find all this information in all the individual update notes and instructions. But I've read them all so here are all the update boot combinations for all Pioneer DJ gear at this moment in time. New gear will be added if made available.

In this overview (between brackets) is a hint where you can find the firmware version.
