I haven't seen much about what kind of speakers everybody uses.

I am looking to get some nice high quality powered speakers for home and possibly to take to a small party.

I have been looking at the Mackie SRM450's and the JBL Eon Powered15.?? Anybody have any? suggestions? or comments about? any speakers?

Dank,
Jimmy

I really recommend the JBL EON series, I have 2 of them and you just can't blow them up. They are 250Watts but I use an 400Watt amplifier for them and even at that level their sound is still great!!

I use 2 bass speakers (2 x 600 w) and 2 topspeakers ( 2 x 400 w) from Behringer.
The sound is perfect. I have 2 amps 1 of 800 w and the other of 1000 w connected.

B&W's have very nice sound though... i like them quite a lot. Myself for at home i just have my sony stereo speakers (150ish watts fullrange apiece i think)... however if i wanna go for quality i bring my gear to the livingroom and hook it up there... a B&O soundsystem

Maybe it`s not cheap but the 201 Direkt/Reflecting Speaker (http://www.bose.de/home_audio/music_speakers/201/) from BOSE are small, have a great sound and they are loud enought for a party.

I personally don't like bose, I think most of them fit more for classical music.. I don't know why, but it just doesnt give that "Thump" that I like... But still their surround systems are superb!

Mackie SR1530's are best bang for the buck.  Now that they are discontinued a pair can be had for under $1400.  They are much fuller sounding than the 450s (as a three way should be).

And they are plenty for any party, believe it.
