I wanted to know if it's possible to somehow seperate the vocal of a song from the instrumental... I have heard this can be done with expensive hardware.... dunno if it's true....

I have never heard of that...

Seperating vocals from instrumentals is a hard task, even on a hardware way this is nearly impossible...

Thanx Lead, i've got the smooth criminal acapella, but i'll get back to you if i need the other oneWinking my eye it's a pain in the record case to find acapellas let alone if they are a lil' older.... but anyhow the search goes on...Winking my eye

Go to a store (perhaps a guitar centre) and test the machine out. I don't like it because of scratch quality, reaction between platter and engine doesn't work 100%, loading time of a cd is slow, Hot-Cue's take ages to load...

Anyway, that's my opinion, check : This Download. It's a comparison movie clip that's been wondering around the net for some time... It might reflect the general opinion about the SLDZ.

On the other hand, I also know people that love it..... go out there and test them in a store might be your best option.

I haven't had the "chance" to try the technics cdtt's out yet, but the first time i used the cdj1000 i fell in love with them. i know that sounds cheezy, but it's true and the cdj800's are brilliant aswell. the only problem i have a had with the cdj1000 is that it stopped when playing a song, which created a blank for 2sec, so i had to push play and it was back on track. but otherwise they are amazing and sadly expensive....c'est la vie...
