There seem to be some rumours about a new product from Denon. It should be called the DN-S8000 and a product drawing is leaked out (source : www.dn-s5000.com).

From this drawing you can see that the designs is all around a very big jogwheel and the Alpha function is expanded very much. Thumbs Up

Update : THIS IS A HOAX, this product will never ship !

Denon DN-S8000... is it a hoax ?!?!

I've been at the site, and i think you don't get it totally right:
http://www.denondjforums.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=6741
The topic is about a new project from denon, they try to involve the people in the design of the bigger brother from the dn-s5000, called the dn-s8000. The picture you're showing is a drawing from a forum member i thought...

I don't know, but the forum says that denon 'leaked' that picture on purpose, so people might get interested, and would help designing...

Yea, I had some people going. The only reason it wasn't put down as a hoax right away is because Denon US representative Silvio was on vacation. I explain everything here link to topic on DN-S5000.com

Check out the other vector art their. I'm trying to create one in 3D. Below is a start on the platter. Let me know what you want in this Dream machine.

I guess that's not a suitable question fot a pioneer forum

Now let's see, what do I wan't on a new denon:
- option to stop the platter
- no more knobs with double functions
- pioneer cue'ing method
- beat cutter
- loop in and out adjust (or did they have that allready?)

You know, u got thos usb mp3 players right? wouldn't it be fun to have a usb slot in, so u can play music from the usb stick? Cause usb is so simple to plug in your computer, it would be very handy...

This is NOT a Pioneer Only forum so I don't see a problem with this question. Take a look at the work that is allready in this drawing and the 3d pic above, just out of respect for this I would already keep this topic alive.

Please feel free to discuss about this product on the DJ Resource forums.

I would agree to get ride of all those double and tripple functions, a normal way to set a Cue Point would be nice, quicker responce when pressing some the HotCue buttons... but now I'm comparing it with a CDJ....

When comparing with a Turntable I would go for :
- more Torque in the platter (let go of the belt-driven system),
- more direct response to corrections made to the platter,
- bigger platter
- harder to slide pitch fader (more resistance)

True, there's a lot of Pioneer related stuff here, but we don't want to scare people away that have their hearts with another brand Thumbs Up

Great suggestion guys.

I own a DN-S5000 and my biggest problem is the double and tripple functions used for 1 knob/button. That is why the concept DN-S8000 looks so busy. For instance, to turn on the brake adjust, you just hit it once. To turn it off, you hit it once again (light will go out). To adjust it, you would hold the button down and use the effects knob to adjust the break speed (with visual display). Simple and easy. You don't have to keep hitting the button down to go through some menu.

Can someone please explain the CUE method pioneer uses?

Jorrit - option to stop the platter The play/stop & cue button is used for this.
- no more knobs with double functions AGREED
- pioneer cue'ing method Please explain in detail. - beat cutter Please explain
- the beat cutter? The DN-S5000 BPM counter is not very good, even unusable.
- loop in and out adjust (or did they have that allready?) 5000 has it (Double Function with splice)

Lead When comparing with a Turntable I would go for :

- more Torque in the platter (let go of the belt-driven system), AGREED
- more direct response to corrections made to the platter, AGREED - bigger platter AGREED
- harder to slide pitch fader (more resistance). AGREED

I actually like the graphic display that the Pioneer's have. Especially for Cueing and Hot Starts. I guess you could use a solid line for that though if the platter spins. Do you think the unit should have a display in the middle of the platter to save room and make it more compact ala Technics SL-DZ1200?

Or do you like to adjust the record toward the middle and keep the diplay on the outside thus making the unit very big compared to other Table-Top CD players. Remember, as consumers, we all win when their is competition. More features at a less price sounds good to me.

with the pioneer cueing method I mean that u cue this way:
push pause, search your point, press CUE (instead of play)

This is just a personal thing, I like it because I'm used to it

The beat cutter is controlled with the buttons on the upper-left side of the CDJ-800.
When you push '8'  you get an 8 beat loop
then you push '4', the machine shortens the loop to a 4 beat loop (loop in point remains the same, out point is adjusted)
then 2, 2 beat
and one one beat...

There also an other way to use the function,
You make a normaal loop (loop in - out)
the '8' button resembles the whole loop,
when u push '4' the machine cuts the loop in 2 (again, the in point remains the same)
the 2 button splits the loop in 2 parts again, and the 1 button does it again...
Really nice trick to do (you can also do it with the hot-cue's from the cdj-1000, with some imagination Winking my eye )

Seams to me like a good thing! But it only will be good if Denon stops making it the denon way... (complicated) and I also thing this cd player could be way to complicated, because it has so much functions

you're completely right!
If it comes out, I guess this will be Denon's answer to the DVJ-X1... But Pioneer is always one step ahead Winking my eye

WOW.. it looks great the DNS-8000

I think it's a fan of denon who made it but they should take it in production right away.

Long live 3d Studio Max... An experienced artist can create this from an illustrator drawing in a few hours... allthough I do find it remarkable that they also forwarded the website www.dn-s8000.com to www.denondjforums.com.

But in the other hand, a domain name costs $20 per year... and for that money you'll get a lot of laughs and misunderstandings.

it's not forwarded to www.denondjforums.com but to www.denondj.com the 'official Denon DJ site.

Hmmm, it would be nice if it was true.
But I think it would cost a fortune to buy one.
The one who made this picture, or the one who put it online, is paying webspace just to forward it to the official Denon DJ site?
I think you would be crazy to do such a thing.
Lead    posted on 31-07-2005 11:38
Nope... www.DN-S8000.com is now registered by Denon+Marantz USA, they own the domain name and it was registered 31 may 2005. So that's what making me doubt....

Would be a nice player if it would ever came to the market Happy, laughing
