Compressor's

   

Any of you guys use a compresor for recording etc?

I'm looking to get one to put between the Mixer output and the PC sound card line in to get the best output for my on-line radio show.

Been keeping my eye on ebay for a bargin. Any advice welcome.

There are lots and lots of compressors out there. The golden rule applies : The more you spend, the better you get. But a nice compromise might be a Behringer Composer. I'm not so font of Behringer as a mixer/speaker producer, but their 1 or 2 HE 19" materials can do alot of dirty work for you.

The Composer Pro is a 2 channel Gate/Compressor/Limiter/De-Esser/Peak Limiter. This thing doesn't cost really much and does a nice job.

Offcourse there are much better things like Focusrite, dbx but quality has it's price

Check the the TC Electronics Finalizer 96k. Brilliant device! Not just for compressing your recording, also for mastering.

Lead: for serious recordings I would not recommend the Composer. Though you can use it for channel compression. (e.q. bassdrum compression, etc.). For cheaper mastering solutions I prefer recommend Dayner or Even alesis instead.

you are correct, serious recordings doe not like the Behringer, but in a radio studio I can imagine that it is used for vocals only. And as you can read in my post I do not really push the use of the Composer.

It depands on the budget that will be spend...
