What do you think about ridiculous prices of Pioneer... ??

What's there to talk about? Pioneer have raised their prices for whatever reason they have, and there's nothing you can do about it except buying another brand if you feel prices are no longer acceptable.

I fail to see what this has to do with respect.

Because of the world economic situation they sell less units. In order to compensate for decreasing sales revenues they raise prices.

Somewhere I also read that they are levelling prices between shops that provide service and retailers that don't (for example certain webshops).

Just imagine. If you can't pay for their products, it means you are not in their target market segment (anymore).

Pioneer will become a brand for big clubs, rich kids and gear junkies. Other brands will be for music lovers.

Its all about profit aint it? Pioneer only being used for big clubs, no music lovers being able to afford pioneer things for at home. But still, it would be a shame if pioneer would stop making DJ products because they didn't raise their prices.

Profit is essential for a commercial business, else no one would finance a company. No one likes to lose money.

Ofcourse you could afford Pioneer products. Two CDJ-100S' perhaps? Although for the same price you can have decks from another brand that can do even more than with CDJ-1000MK3's.

Your priorities should become clear now. You're DJing because of the gear or because you like to play music?

I like DJ'ing, and I play because of the music, I just think that many good DJ's want Pioneer, because in a certain way, gear does affect your abilites.

Yes, than you choose for CDJ-800 instead of CDJ-1000MKIII for cost reasons or instead of a Denon DN-S3700 for reliabilty reasons.

But I think we shouldn't attack Pioneer. They put thought in their survival strategy and lets hope it will work out. And then when the economic climates gets better we can all afford Pioneer DJ gear again.

the prices raises are insane just like the topic starter said. The gaps between djm400 en 600 are so close.

Offcourse pioneer want to be exclusive but come on!

i'm very disapointed about the price raises! This year i wanted to buy a set of 400's ,which were expensive for me even before the raise, but now i'm definitely going for another brand.

Pioneer is not the only one doing this...
But I've heard it's not realy just because of the crisis, but it would've been done because the value of the Yen raised. And pioneer didn't want the european prices to be less than the japanese so they raised the european prices.
Winston    posted on 22-04-2009 20:55

[EDIT] shit, forgot this was an english thread...

Allthough the linked article is a nice piece of text, it's not complete. There are far more things going on than people can imagine. There are always 2 ways to look at it, from the users point of view, and that from the supplier...

Wich means that you're really f*cked if you buy pioneerstuff now, espacially if the crisis ends quickly.

But it's not just the crisis, so I think it's not like that...

Yes, you dont have to buy pioneer. But look at this way: most guitar players would love to have a Gibson guitar, because of their quality and style, and yes, because of their name. I think you can compare Gibson and Pioneer a little: they both  make hiqh quality products used by both proffesionals and amateurs.

Pioneer has a workflow and functionality I haven't found on any other CD-Player.. That's way different then a guitar.
Estacy    posted on 26-04-2009 10:11
Yes, but Gibson is to guitar players as what Pioneer is to DJ's, ask my friends!

Thank God. And lets not forget that.

Anyway, now we know that there is more than one reason, and Pioneer likes to keep it a secret. It is common in business that a company doesn't publish their complete business strategy.
