So.. just been reading about this because I have the same song twice. Eric Prydz - Call On Me and DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter - Call On Me.

Did Prydz give DJ Falcon this song to play in set and everyone mistook it for the follow-on to “So Much Love To Give” like I have read on the DJ list…. OR did Bangalter/Falcon really make the song first and Prydz snuck in with the release like Discogs basically says?

Quotes:

"In 2004 DJ Falcon and Bangalter had the idea for 'Call On Me', a track based on a sample of 'Valerie' performed by Steve Winwood. Released as a white label, it started to get played in France. A DJ named Eric Prydz was supposed to remix it, but ever since the 'Gym Tonic Event', Bangalter had gained a notoriety in finding good samples and imaginative ideas. For unknown reasons, Roulé didn't clear the sample to release the track commercially, but Prydz, helped with his label Ministry Of Sound, did. Even Steve Winwood liked the track and re-recorded a part of his vocals to be part of the project. Result: 'Call On Me' became a worldwide hit, but without any mention of Bangalter in the credits or in the concept" [Discogs]

"Two years ago Eric and producer friends Retarded Funk were working together in the studio when they hit upon the idea of using Steve Winwood’s ‘Valerie’ as the basis for a dance track. Armed with a CDR and keen to test it on the clubbing public, Prydz passed a copy on to DJ Falcon during one of his UK gigs, who immediately made it a regular fixture in his sets. Eric couldn’t have anticipated the stir the track would have: fans clamoured for more information, only for it to be uploaded to an internet site, assumed to be the follow-up to Thomas Bangalter & DJ Falcon’s ‘So Much Love To Give’ and wrongfully attributed to them.

As demand for ‘Call On Me’ grew an enterprising distributor downloaded and pressed up the track under the guise of Thomas Falcon ‘Valerie’. This went on to trouble the German DDC Chart, in a guise no different to Eric’s own version, apart from the addition of an acappella vocal from French band Phoenix. Meanwhile Eric spent his time producing his own version and eventually gained all important clearance from Steve Winwood to use ‘Valerie’.

Prdyz’s hard work paid off when Winwood not only gave clearance for the sample to be used exclusively by Data (the first time he has ever done this for any of his songs), but also went back into the studio to re-sing the vocals!" [The DJ List]

P.S Sorry for the long thread :P

I think this is just a good story probably nothing true about it, and I think if anything was true about this story thomas would say someting and I think people still believe the guy from daft punk more than the then unknown prydz, just hypothetical speaking.

Some people will always make up good story's and keep in mind that discogs information can be made and changed by everyone  so that's not a reliable source.

Yeah.. its seems funny for it to be in "the charts" as Falcon & Bangalter n for them not to say well its not actually ours.. unless they just didnt mind getting the credit :P.. I've just always known it for being Prydz because I remember when it was legally released.. just think it would be good to actually know the truth :P
