Hey Guys
My Cue buttom on one of my CDJ-800mk2's have been a little blunt lately. It's a well known problem, and I have had the buttoms replaced before at a the shop where I bought them. But now it has happened again. I got a pair of buttoms to replace with, and have been thinking about doing it myself. I know that the warranty will be lost. But is there other tips and tricks I should know about? Anyone have experince in doing it themselves?

Thanks in advance...

Yes I have... It's an easy job that's self explaining.

If you don't think you could figure it out by doing it, you might better not start on it by yourself. It's nothing more than unscrewing the bottom, removing a piece of PCB and replacing the switch.

Just a 15 minutes job I guess if you're a little experienced.

It sounds pretty easy. Thought it also might be so, but didn't want to open the case without asking somebody else first. Better start unscrewing before the weekend starts Cry
Thanks Lead!

If your experienced with a screwdriver and solder welt you should be ok.
If this is your first time of soldering electronics : perhaps rethink about it Winking my eye

Remember : a good welt is only heated about 2-3 seconds and uses a very tiny amunt of soldering tin.
and as with all electronics : DO NOT USE FLUX (soldering fluid), it will destroy your circuit board by a chemical reaction !

Remember : This will void warranty !!!
  • unscrew screws in the black plastic (do not turn the CDJ up-side-down on the platter, use wood or so to make sure all pressure is on the body of the player and NOT the platter ! Just like in my SL1200 topic you can use something like CD covers to get the desired height.

Again : KEEP THE PLATTER FREE !

  • Unscrew 5 black screw from the bottom and 1 silver one on the back
  • Open the CDJ like a book
  • Unsolder the switch(es)
  • Unscrew 6 screws of the pcb and only lift it a few cm (3-4)
  • Remove the switch and replace with new original part
  • put back the pcb and solder the switch to it
  • then reassemble the CDJ

I know how to swing a screwdriver and have been soldering some things before. But never such a big thing, so just wanted to hear what you guys have to say before I started on doing something I did'nt knew much about.
Thanks a million for the guide Lead Cry.
Now I feel a little more comfortable about doing it myself.
